Helping Daddy!

Ellen has been asking for a bicycle and a backpack for her birthday for the past couple of months.  Every single time we see either of these items she reminds me that this is what she wants for her birthday.  Every. Single. Time.  Since Cece and Grandpa will be out of the country (in two different countries!) for her birthday, they got her a bicycle early.  She was so excited to pick it out and could not wait for Daddy to get home so that they could build it together.

She had a great time helping him and even held her sunshade over his head so that he did not get hot.

She was so excited about this bicycle that she couldn't wait for him to finish building it.  As soon as the seat was ready she hopped right on!

When they were finished building her new bicycle she looked at me and said, "I need backpack".  Yes, Little Bee, Mommy knows that you have more on your birthday wish list.  Don't you worry.  Love, The Little Bee and her Momma
P.S. I love that what she wants for her birthday falls so in sync with where she is in development.  Two years old is all about separation/individuation.  Ellen needs the back pack and bike to be able to move independently of me but as she is in the sub-phase of rapprochement (the stage where she wants independence within my eyesight) she is happy to have me follow along on these little adventures.
