Busy Bee!

This is sort of my life right now. Multi-tasking and caring for my family while not looking so glam in the process. Here I am petting a recently usurped furry baby, while catching up on the news, as Ellen crawls all over me. Some days I wish I had more arms so that I could be doing just a bit more in the moment. Other days I remember to be mindful of what I am doing in the moment and to be present to enjoy that task. As Ellen approaches her first year I find myself really taking more time to be mindful. I may linger a little longer in the rocking chair with her at night, smelling her sweet baby smell, as she drifts to sleep all cozy in my arms. Or Maybe take an extra lap around the block so that she can see that dog dog one more time. I try to sit down with her while she is eating dinner and watch her chubby fingers grasp her carrots or squish her peas. These are moments that I want to remember and they feel like they are slipping away from me as she becomes less of a baby and more of my big girl.

I can remember my youngest cousin, Maudie, being born and how quickly she grew up. We are ten years apart and now she has her Aggie ring! That time flashed by and it is a good reminder to take the time to enjoy this moment with Ellen versus just getting everything checked off of my to do list. Maudie sent an extra special wish for Ellen because she says that she loves her the most!

Ellen James, I cannot believe you are almost a whole year old! It seems like just yesterday your mommy called to tell me the wonderful news that you were growing in her tummy and we would finally have a baby in our family! I cannot even begin to explain how excited I was because I was finally going to get the chance to love on and spoil a baby. And we were so lucky that we got you as that baby! I got to meet you when you were just one day old and I knew then that we had the best baby of all! I have loved getting to see you grow and learn so many new things over this past year. I only wish I could have seen you more because you change so fast. Just last weekend I saw you at Cece's in Tiki and you ran up and smiled at me. I was so surprised because you were walking and you had four teeth! And I could not believe that you had gotten even prettier than the last time I'd seen you. My birthday wish for you is to have another happy and healthy year and I hope you start to understand how truly loved you are by everyone in your life. All of my Aggie friends know all about you because I love to brag on you so much! I also hope I get to see you much more this coming year than the last! I love you so much, sweet girl, and I hop you continue to grow up always knowing that! Happy birthday!! Lots of love from your favorite cousin, Maudie

Maudie has been your official photographer this year and has taken more pictures of you than anyone! I bet one day you can be her flower girl! Love, The Little Bee and her Momma
